This are the mask thar are use for the traditional celebrations around the country, like fairs or saint celebrations. One of the mask production site is in Escazú, in San Jose suburbs
I have to confess that I find them kind of creepy. Well-made and interesting, but still… It would be fascinating to find out why they're made that way.
